Community Response Ad Hoc Committee

The Commission on Human Rights Community Response ad hoc committee was formed to clarify the responsibilities and processes of the Commission in responding to concerns raised by County residents, and to ensure that the public is clear on how the Commission is able to be an advocate and resource in such cases.

The Commission will serve as a forum for listening to community concerns, providing referrals for individuals, and exploring trends to uncover areas requiring focus by the Commission if it appears human rights are being violated.

As a visible county body focused on human rights, the Commission is periodically approached by residents raising concerns about possible  human right violations in the county.  As the Commission’s visibility increases through outreach efforts, we anticipate such approaches to increase.  The Community Response ad hoc was formed to clarify the responsibilities and processes of the Commission in responding to concerns raised by county residents, and to ensure that the public is clear on how the Commission is able to be an advocate and resource in such cases.

We are currently developing the infrastructure for this ad hoc. We anticipate having a process put in place by spring.
