    1. Ad Hoc, Liaison & Project 2018 Updates – Jones
      The Chair will ask for ad hoc, liaison, and project committee updates.
      • Independent Office of Law Enforcement Review & Outreach – 3 Minutes
        • Consideration of $400 sponsorship for Sheriff Candidates Forum
    2. 5th District Public Forum in May, 2018 – Estrin, Meraz – 3 Minutes
      Confirmation of date, topic, and venue for 5th District forum.
    3. Final FY2017-18 Budget Requests – Jones – 2 Minutes
      Directions to submit final budget requests by April 16, 2018 to be considered for approval with FY2017-18 funds.
    4. Administrative Report – Jones, Staff – 5 Minutes
      Staff may provide an update on various county-based, commission-related projects, as well as review other administrative and budgetary items, as needed, to include:
      • Discussion on nominations and election process for 2018-2019 Officers to take place in May
        • Bylaws
        • Attendance records
      • Updated documentation on Safe Sonoma County to accompany request to Board of Supervisor seeking approval to fundraise; for review purposes.
    5. Screening of Safe Sonoma County – Jones – 3 Minutes
      The Commission will present the video Public Service Announcement, Safe Sonoma County.
  7. Education Forum – Smith – 90 Minutes
    Public forum on civil rights protections in schools, restorative justice, educational achievement, and special education. Speakers include:
    • Raquel Mack, Founder – Save Your VI
    • Mick Gardner, Executive Director – Restorative Resources
    • Socorro Shiels, Director of Education – California Collaborative for Educational Excellence
    • Jacquelyn Torres, Sonoma Valley High School student and Junior Human Rights Commissioner – on the Latino Education Gap
    Format for the forum allows each participant 15 minutes, to be immediately followed by a seven-minute Question & Answer session.
  8. Commissioner Announcements/Communications With Supervisors/Tabling Opportunities - All - 3Minutes

  • Listen with an open mind to all information, including dissenting points of view, regarding issues presented to the Commission;
  • Recognize it is sometimes difficult to speak at meetings, and out of respect for each person's perspective, allow speakers to have their say without comment or body gestures, including booing, whistling or clapping;

Public Comment at Commission Meetings

Members of the public are free to address the Commission. Public comments:

  • On items not on the agenda are heard following the consent items at the beginning of the meeting.
  • Should fall under the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission (as noted in the founding documents).
  • Are limited to 3 minutes per topic; time limitations are at the discretion of the Chair. If several individuals wish to address one topic, the time will be divided between/among speakers

Commission members may not deliberate or take action on items not on the agenda, and generally may only listen.
