Purpose of Meeting:

This Public Hearing is for any interested parties to learn more about the proposed permit and to provide comments to the LEA regarding the proposed action. The decision to issue or not issue the SWFP must be made by the LEA within 120 days of the date application was deemed complete as required by Statute. Prior to issuance of the SWFP, the LEA must request and receive concurrence from the California Department of Resources Recycling & Recovery.

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, In compliance with AB1497 and California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 27 Section 21660.3, that the Sonoma County Department of Health Services, Solid Waste Local Enforcement Agency (LEA) will be holding an informational meeting to review the new Solid Waste Facility Permit for West Sonoma County Disposal.

As a property owner, tenant, business or person who has received this notice please be advised that the Sonoma County LEA received and accepted for filing a New Solid Waste Permit Application for a transfer/processing facility located at 3417 Standish Ave., Santa Rosa, California. The LEA has determined the new permit meets, as per Title 27 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR) Section 21563(d). The LEA’s determination is that the new permit be approved. The LEA is certified by the California Department of Resources, Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) to enforce state laws and regulations at solid waste sites within Sonoma County, including transfer/processing facilities.

Description of New Permit:

  • Recycling Facility will accept and process material that has been separated for reuse by businesses and residents only. The facility will not be open to the general public.
  • The Facility will receive, separate, and prepare recyclable material for end-use markets.
  • The Facility will not be permitted to receive loads of mixed municipal solid waste, bulky waste (furniture, mattresses, etc.), construction and demolition material, hazardous materials/waste, scrap metal, etc.

A copy of the proposed application package and permit is available for public review in the LEA office, located at 625 5th Street, Santa Rosa, CA 95404. The application package is available for review by appointment M-F except holidays from 7:30 am -4:30 pm or through public records requests.
