Because we made just a few changes to the County-wide training program for 2016-17, most of Planning for Success will look familiar to you.
The Key Competencies and Skills identified by employees as critical for success at each of the County employment levels: Foundational (Individual Contributor), Supervisory, Managerial, and Executive continue to serve as the foundation for our courses.
Certifications at the Foundational, Supervisor, and Manager levels are still available for any employee to pursue. Look for the orange, blue and green ovals on the Professional Development Spiral illustrating the required classes for each certification level. The grey ovals are the Skills Development Electives that are also available to all staff.
This year we’re focusing on expanding and improving skills training and “transfer of learning” to the workplace. You will see the following changes in the classroom:
- Participant materials that better support your learning,
- Increased interactivity among participants, and
- More opportunities to practice what you’ve learned.
