Training Opportunities

Human Resources is providing the following upcoming trainings in May 2018. Employees who are impacted by upcoming reductions, are concerned about being impacted by upcoming reductions, or are interested in learning more about how to navigate County recruitment processes are encouraged to attend.

County Career Planning I

You own your career. Be proactive! This training, conducted by HR, provides valuable information on how to navigate through County employment opportunities. You will learn about the recruitment process, the transfer process, what a freename is and other relevant Civil Service definitions, and how to be the best competitor in the selection process. This training will help you learn what HR and hiring managers look for, how to be better prepared, how to best present yourself and your skills, and how to find opportunities.

-May 2, 2018 from 8:30-12:00PM

-May 23, 2018 from 1:00- 4:30PM

County Career Planning II

This workshop, conducted by HR's Recruitment Analysts, is the second segment of the County Career Training Program. This workshop begins with an exercise to help you hone your skills at writing responses to Supplemental Questions. We will then provide you with an overview of the interview and hiring processes. You’ll receive tips on interviewing, and have the chance to practice these skills. Since this workshop builds on the information provided in Part I, you have to attend that segment before registering for this program. You also will be required to do homework to prepare for this class, consisting of drafting answers to sample Supplemental Questions.

-May 22, 2018 from 8:30-12:00PM

Layoff Information for Employees

This training, conducted by HR, provides information on the County’s layoff processes. Attendees will learn about the Civil Service Rules regarding layoff, displacement, and restoration, how seniority is calculated, layoff notices, options for moving to different positions within the county, the County’s Layoff Mitigation plan, benefits upon layoff, and other available resources.

-May 3, 2018, from 8:30-12:00PM

-May 8, 2018, from 8:30-12:00PM

More information, training dates and locations can be found on SCORS .
