Board of Supervisors

Sonoma County Board of Supervisors sits as the governing board of Sonoma County and of various special jurisdictions such as the Sonoma County Water Agency, the Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District, the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, County Sanitation Districts, and the Community Development Commission.

The Board is composed of five supervisors elected from supervisorial districts for four year terms:

On May 21, 2015, Congressman Jared Huffman introduced H.R. 2538 – The Lytton Rancheria Homelands Act of 2015, to take approximately 500 acres of land into trust on behalf of the Lytton Tribe near the Town of Windsor. 

On May 27, 2015, Governor Brown wrote to Congress supporting the legislation, affirming that the Act provides “the framework for mutually beneficial cooperative efforts that protect the Tribe’s sovereignty as well as the vital interests of Sonoma County residents” if land was taken into trust.

    District Attorney Jill Ravitch has announced that defendant Julio Cesar Olivera Zepeda, 27-years-old of Santa Rosa, was convicted by jury trial yesterday.  The trial was conducted in front of the Honorable Gary Medvigy.  The defendant was convicted of multiple counts and various types of child sexual assault.

    On July 28, 2015, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors received an update on implementation of recommendations developed by the Community and Local Law Enforcement (CALLE) Task Force, released in May of this year. The update included highlights on the progress of the twenty CALLE Task Force recommendations, including both an interim and ongoing model for establishing an oversight body, progress towards development of the Moorland Neighborhood Park, and a pilot mural project to be introduced in Roseland.
