Board of Supervisors

Sonoma County Board of Supervisors sits as the governing board of Sonoma County and of various special jurisdictions such as the Sonoma County Water Agency, the Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District, the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, County Sanitation Districts, and the Community Development Commission. The Board is composed of five supervisors elected from supervisorial districts for four year terms.

Notice Of Vacancy On The Library Commission – Joint City/County Representative Seat

Stack of BooksThe Santa Rosa City Council and Sonoma County Board of Supervisors are seeking applications from interested citizens to volunteer for appointment to the Sonoma County Library Commission. The Sonoma County Library is a Joint Powers Agency created through an agreement between the County of Sonoma and the cities of Cloverdale, Cotati, Healdsburg, Petaluma, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Sonoma, and Windsor. The appointee will fill a vacant position as the joint City of Santa Rosa/County of Sonoma representative for a four-year term.

    The County of Sonoma has launched a project to seek a more effective, efficient, and sustainable fire service system in the county, particularly the unincorporated areas. Fire services in Sonoma County are provided today by dedicated and excellent volunteers and professionals. Yet, many districts and volunteer companies in the County are facing significant financial stresses.

    Today, Governor Jerry Brown signed SB 199, which requires all airsoft guns to have brightly colored or transparent markings. The bill will allow officers to more easily identify airsoft guns as imitation firearms instead of real guns in an effort to prevent officer-involved shootings based on a perceived safety threat. Following the October 22, 2013, shooting of Andy Lopez, the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors prioritized gun and replica weapon regulation in its annual Legislative Platform.
