    Discussion and possible action on items 1 through 8.
    1. Guest Speaker - Gloria McCallister, Social Worker for Community Action of Marin - Almond – 20 Minutes
      Gloria McCallister has served as a Social Worker for Community Action Marin for over five years. Community Action Marin is the largest human services provider in Marin County and is designated by the County Board of Supervisors as the “official anti-poverty agency” for Marin County. As a bilingual provider, Gloria works heavily with the immigration community. She is a family partner and family advocate.
    2. Junior Commissioner Project – Diaz De Leon and Padilla– 5 Minutes
      Commissioners to provide an update on the status of the incoming cohort of Juniors.
    3. Women’s History Month Suffrage Project – Blalock and Fleming– 5 Minutes
      Commissioners Blalock and Fleming to briefly provide updates on the project being coordinated by the National Women’s History Project. Commissioners will also discuss the 40th anniversary event mentioned in the June meeting.
    4. Changes in Commission Staff Support –Almond – 20 Minutes
      The Chair will review required adjustments in operational support and will discuss ways in which to mitigate the elimination of staff support. Chair will also provide update on meeting with Supervisor Gore.
    5. National Association of Commissions for Women Conference (NACW) & ACCW Meeting – Blalock and Almond – 3 Minutes
      • Discuss the upcoming 48th NACW Annual Conference and Association of California Commissions for Women meeting and potential costs of Commissioners attendance
    6. Women’s Equality Day Resolution – Blalock, Brown – 5 Minutes
      • 08-14-18 HR-CSW Women’s Equality Day Resolution
        • Follow up on request of a Gold Resolution from the County of Sonoma Board of Supervisors
    7. Administrative Report – Almond – 10 Minutes
      Chair to provide an update on various county-based, commission-related projects, as well as review other administrative and budgetary items, as needed, to include:
      • Review year-end budget (distributed at meeting)
      • Storage Unit
    8. Strategic Planning Meeting – Almond – 5 minutes
      The Chair will discuss potential September and October dates for the annual strategic planning session to choose focus areas for the coming fiscal year.
    9. Letter to Senator Feinstein – Diaz De Leon – 5 minutes
      Commissioner Diaz De Leon will explain the letter thanking Senator Feinstein for sponsoring the Keeping Families Together Act. The letter also acknowledges the executive order signed by President Trump regarding his Administration’s Zero Tolerance Policy.
  9. COMMUNITY ISSUES, LIAISONS, AND COORDINATORS – 5 MINUTES

Any member of the audience desiring to address the Commission on a matter on the agenda: Please walk to the public speaker’s table and after receiving recognition from the Chair, please state your name and make your comments. In order that all interested parties have an opportunity to speak, please be brief and limit your comments to the subject under discussion. Each person is usually granted 3 minutes to speak; time limitations are at the discretion of the Chair. While members of the public are welcome to address the Commission, under the Brown Act, Commission members may not deliberate or take action on items not on the agenda, and generally may only listen.

All are encouraged to engage in respectful dialog that supports freedom of speech and values diversity of opinion. Commissioners, Staff, and the public are encouraged to:

  • Create an atmosphere of respect and civility where Commissioners, County Staff, and the Public are free to express their ideas within the time and content parameters established by the Brown Act and CSW’s standard Parliamentary procedures (Robert’s Rules of Order);
  • Establish and maintain a cordial and respectful atmosphere during discussions;
  • Foster meaningful dialogue free of attacks of a personal nature and/or attacks based on age, (dis)ability, class, education level, gender, gender identity, occupation, race and/or ethnicity, sexual orientation;
  • Listen with an open mind to all information, including dissenting points of view, regarding issues presented to the Commission;
  • Recognize it is sometimes difficult to speak at meetings, and out of respect for each person's perspective, allow speakers to have their say without comment or body gestures, including booing, whistling or clapping;
