Santa Rosa, CA – February 23, 2018 – First
District Supervisor Susan Gorin invites community members to apply for
positions on local policy making bodies. Applications and a list of all boards,
commissions, and committees to which the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors
appoints members is available online at: http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Boards-Commissions-Task-Forces/. The vacancy list on the site shows available
opportunities for involvement. All applications are due by 5:00pm on March 16, 2018.

Gorin. “Please consider joining one of over 75 Sonoma County Boards and
Commissions and let your voice be heard.”
In the First
District, Supervisor Susan Gorin is currently calling for applicants for the
following commissions and boards:
Valley Citizens Advisory Commission (SVCAC) - County Alternate and North Valley: Two vacancies. North Valley Appointee must reside in the
north valley area. County Alternate must live in the unincorporated area and
within the jurisdiction of the SVCAC. The SVCAC is a joint advisory agency with representation from the County
of Sonoma and the City of Sonoma to share responsibility for local planning in
the Sonoma Valley. The SVCAC provides a regular forum for citizen
participation in the formation of public policy, consider issues concerning the
Sonoma Valley, evaluate solutions of these issues, advise elected officials and
other decision makers, and form a bridge for communication between the various
governmental agencies and the general public.
Preservation and Open Space District Advisory Committee: One vacancy. The Committee shall render advice and make
recommendations to the Board of Directors on matters that the Board may, from
time to time, refer to the Committee for its consideration.
County Local Task Force on Integrated Waste Management: One vacancy. To develop goals, policies, and procedures which are
consistent with guidelines and regulations adopted by the Board, to guide the
development of the Siting Element of the County-wide integrated waste
County Commission on the Status of Women: One vacancy. The Sonoma County
Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) was established in 1975 to promote
equal rights and opportunities that enhance the quality of life for all women
and girls and to address issues of discrimination and prejudice that negatively
affect women in Sonoma County.
County Fish and Wildlife Commission: One vacancy. Receives and reviews
applications for funding for various projects and recommends to the
Agricultural Commissioner that certain projects be funded from the County's
fish and wildlife propagation fund.
County Tourism Board: One vacancy. To provide
for the levying of assessments on specified lodging businesses within Sonoma
County which will fund activities and programs promoting tourism in the Area.
