Aging Together Initiative
Many of us will live to 100 … What’s your plan?
To ensure that Sonoma County is a welcoming place for residents of all ages to live, work and play together, Aging Together Sonoma County provides advocacy and education to connect generations. It was formed in 2015 as an initiative by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors.
Aging Together leadership includes government officials and agencies and community-based organizations. Its mission is to create a county-wide community that ages together and creates opportunities and resources that foster insight, respect and interdependence, while honoring our community’s diversity and varying needs as we age. For the well-being of the entire community, it promotes programs and policies that enable residents, at all stages of life, to access supportive community resources that improve their quality of life.
Aging Together focuses on eight areas that promote healthy aging across the lifespan:
- community connectedness
- transportation
- varied housing options
- resources for healthy living
- lifelong learning
- employment and financial security
- access to coordinated health
- and community-based services
