Professional Development – New Workshops coming in 2023!

We will be delivering 8 monthly workshops in the year ahead in February , March, April and May!

Join us in 2023 for an exciting series of workshops to share new skills and insights with Sonoma County Community Health Workers (CHWs). We are engaging new and diverse community partners to support professional development opportunities, just for you!

These workshops will include topics for CHWs working at various levels, including CHW core skills for beginners, refresher workshops, training for trainers, and supervisory training. These workshops are consistently offered in two sessions, English and Spanish. Check back in late January for updates and details!

Saturday, August 13 Workshop: Navigating Resources for Trauma Care – Part III

Our third and final workshop in our trauma series for Sonoma County CHWs was held August 13.
Therapists and peer support specialists shared resources and best practices for receiving care.

Saturday, June 11 Workshop: Understanding Trauma in Community Health Work

Sonoma County Department of Health Services and City College of San Francisco (CCSF) are collaborating to develop an exciting series of workshops to share new skills and insights with Sonoma County Community Health Workers (CHWs). These workshops are consistently offered in two sessions, English and Spanish. First in a series of three lessons dedicated to trauma and mental health lessons for CHWs, this workshop will address trauma, traumatic events and responses, trauma informed-practice, secondary trauma and self care strategies. The workshop is instructed by Tim Berthold, former Coordinator of the Community Health Worker Certificate Worker Program at CCSF, along with CHWs Blanca Goodman, Kaiya Kramer, and Chelene Lopez.

Saturday, April 23 Workshop: Be Ready! Emergency Preparedness and Response Workshop

On April 23, CHWs Blanca Goodman and Kaiya Kramer led a presentation on how to make a plan, build a kit and remain informed to prepare for Sonoma County emergencies.
