In this issue of IOLERO’S newsletter, we respond to communityconcerns regarding the Sheriff’s decision not to enforce the Orders of Sonoma County’sHealth Officer, discuss our work with the Community Advisory Council (CAC) on the study of the use offorce and de-escalation policies of all 58 Sheriff's Offices in California,plans for our Community-Oriented Policing Project, and our efforts to expandIOLERO’s presence in the community.
We are sending out this brief message to provide you with the invitation to the Community Advisory Council (CAC) meeting on June 1 and also to announce the untimely passing of one of our esteemed colleagues.
Inthis issue of IOLERO’S newsletter, we introduce IOLERO’s new Programs Manager,discuss IOLERO’s innovative partnership with Sonoma State University (SSU),provide updates on the Sheriff’s quarantine procedures at the jail and theCommunity Advisory Council (CAC).
This update addresses (1) the arrest of Jason Anglero Wyrick in Graton, (2) continued efforts to keep the incarcerated and jail staff safe during the pandemic, (3) phone and virtual mental health services for community members during this stressful time, and (4) plans for a virtual CAC meeting in May.
We hope you are staying well and healthy (both physically and mentally) during these very challenging times. Please remember that we are all going through this hardship and working to overcome this pandemic together. As you are all aware, we are in the midst of a pandemic related to Coronavirus (COVID-19). On Friday afternoon, Sonoma County’s Health Officer issued an Order related to the county’s effort to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Sonoma County.
