The County of Sonoma and SEIU representatives met on April 11th for the parties’ sixth bargaining session.
The session began with the County responding to SEIU’s request for costing information on SEIU’s economic proposals, broken out by general fund and non-general fund impacts. The County also confirmed that it was maintaining its proposal for a 12 month extension of the contract, with all economic benefits to remain status quo and ensuring no out-of-pocket medical insurance increases for bargaining unit members during the term of the extension. The County also asked SEIU to consider moving to expedited fact-finding on economic issues to allow the parties to have their respective positions assessed by a third party. SEIU indicated it would consider the County's request.
The parties spent the second half of the bargaining session on AB 119 (new employee orientation procedures) and reached a tentative agreement on new procedures regarding new employee orientation. The parties are scheduled to return to the bargaining table on April 23rd.
