SEIU Labor Negotiations Summary

Published: May 31, 2018

CORRECTED POSTING:  County and SEIU representatives met on May 30th for the parties’ 11thbargaining session.

The County initiated discussions by submitting a revised proposal that included an enhanced dental benefit.  The County’s current economic proposals provide for a 2% one-time payment, maintenance of the County’s medical plan benefit for the term of the extension, removing the tie to the unrepresented management group for the retiree health benefit, reduced dental premiums, and a floating eight hour holiday.

SEIU countered with a proposal for agreement including a COLA, maintenance of the County’s medical benefit, an increased floating holiday from the County’s proposal, paid family leave, reduced dental premiums as proposed by the County, increased sick leave and holiday time off for extra-help employees, and other economic benefits and contract clean-up and clarification provisions.

The parties' proposals are for a one-year term that would expire at the end of February 2019. The next meeting is scheduled for June 8th
