On August 27th 2018, the County of Sonoma and ESC met for their 17th bargaining session. The parties presented their respective package proposals.
The County has proposed a 2% lump sum, Cesar Chavez holiday, a set of comparator agencies to assist in preparing for future negotiations, County contribution to employees’ increased medical premiums, dental premium holiday, increased channels for labor-management communication outside of the negotiating table, changes to employees’ furlough program, and other increases in employee benefits in exchange for agreement to a one-year contract extension and language that decouples active unrepresented employees’ medical benefits from medical benefits for retirees. ESCs responsive proposal addresses the same issues as several of the County’s proposals, and also seeks salary increases for certain employee classifications.
On August 31st 2018, the County and ESC met for their 18th bargaining session. After discussion of the parties’ respective positions, ESC declared impasse. The parties will meet on September 5, 2018 as part of the established impasse procedures.
