Sonoma County Announces Plan to Replace Voting System

Santa Rosa, CA  –  March 1, 2018  –  County Clerk William F. Rousseau has begun a special project to select a new voting system for Sonoma County. County Clerk Rousseau stated “I made it a priority in my final term in office to ensure Sonoma County modernizes and upgrades its voting system to the latest standards, using the most secure, accurate, and accessible technology available. We want to have new voting equipment for polling places and machinery for counting ballots beginning in 2019.”

Sonoma County residents may visit the County’s  new voting systems webpage at http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Voting-System/ to read more about why replacement is necessary, why it must happen now, and how a new voting system will be selected.

County Clerk Rousseau also stated, “We want to hear about voters’ experiences with our current voting equipment, what they liked or disliked, and what they think are priorities to consider when we make a final decision on which new system to choose.” Sonoma County residents are encouraged to take a brief survey located on the voting system webpage. http://sonomacounty.ca.gov/Voting-System/
