    The Community Development Commission has prepared a draft Substantial Amendment to the 2020-21 One-Year Action Plan to utilize a HUD-granted waiver that waives the requirement to set-aside 15% of HOME Funds for Community Housing Development Organizations. This amendment will enable the reprogramming of $134,401 in otherwise unawarded set-aside funds for the Housing Authority's Tenant-Based Rental Assistance Program.

    The Sonoma County Community Development Commission (Commission) invites proposals for administration of a short-term emergency rental assistance program. $2,360,000 is available from the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The program will be designed to serve low-income tenants impacted by COVID-19 and low-income landlords who are negatively impacted by the eviction defense ordinance currently in place.

    Sonoma County has been allocated $899,393 in formula funds for 2019-2020, and an estimated $5,396,358 over the next five years through the State's Permanent Local Housing Allocation program. Members of the public are invited to comment on the draft plan for use of these funds between now and July 23rd.

    The County of Sonoma has released a Request for Qualifications/Proposals for Indoor-Outdoor Shelter Site(s) and Services for Homeless Individuals. 

    Shelters are needed to address the immediate needs of those experiencing homelessness on the Joe Rodota Trail and other parts of the county. The ultimate goal is to meet homeless individuals where they are and to support them in successfully transitioning into permanent supportive housing and/or permanent housing.

    This waiting list is specifically for households with five-ten members that require 4-bedroom units. Households with less than five people are not eligible for this list.

    The CDC, in collaboration with the Cities of Santa Rosa and Petaluma, is creating an Assessment of Fair Housing (AFH) that examines barriers to housing that may exist for protected classes. The purpose of the AFH is to ensure that all publicly and privately funded housing and housing-related activities in Sonoma County affirmatively further fair housing and, in particular, that they inform housing and community development policies and practices of the Cities of Santa Rosa and Petaluma and the County of Sonoma to ensure that they promote fair housing choice for all persons.
