Joe Rodota Trail Bridge Replacement - Background

Project Background

The West County - Joe Rodota Trail was primarily constructed along abandoned railroad right of way, with the railroad bridges and retaining walls being built in the early 1900's. The bridges were modified for pedestrians and bicyclists and opened to the public in 1990.

The 13-mile trail is popular with pedestrians and bicyclists for recreation and commuting because it links Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Graton and Forestville.

Cost & Funding

The County secured $770,000 from the One Bay Area Grant 2 program to fund the bridge replacements. The County is also contributing $100,000 in local funds towards the project for a total costs of $870,000.
