Hood Mountain Lawson Expansion Master Plan

What & Why?

The Master Planning process and approval are complete for the 247-acre Lawson property at Hood Mountain Regional Park & Open Space Preserve. This Master Plan outlines the opportunities for the public to enjoy this property and defines its use and management strategies.

Construction of the new trail from the Lower Johnson Ridge Trail to the Lawson property began in October 2019.

What's Next?

The construction work includes a two-mile, multi-use trail and trail bridge to the Lawson ridgeline. The expansion trail begins one-half mile from the Pythian parking lot, from the lower Johnson Ridge Trail. The trail will provide access to the expansion property, and end near the Lawson summit with spectacular ridgeline views.

The construction for the multi-use trail and bridge will be completed, and it will be opened to the public in Summer of 2020.

Look for volunteer projects relating to new trail construction in summer 2020.
