Bodega Bay Bike & Pedestrian Trail - Project Detail

Bodega Bay Bike and Pedestrian trail - Coastal Prairie Trail

Next Steps

Coastal Prairie Trail

The 1.10 mile Coastal Prairie Trail segment of the Bodega Bay Bike and Pedestrian Trail linking the Bodega Bay Community Center to Keefe Avenue near Salmon Creek has been completed. The project features an 8 foot wide multi-use trail of stabilized aggregate, two boardwalks, and a 120 foot long, side girder, timber bridge. The new bridge was dedicated to Elizabeth “Liz” Burko, for her 30 years of service with California State Parks.

The project was funded by a federal grant from the Land & Water Conservation Fund for $360,000, $260,000 Transportation Development Act Article 3 Funds, $142,575 Coastal Impact Assistance Program (US Fish & Wildlife Service), $300,000 Measure M, and Park Mitigation Fees.

Coastal North Harbor and Coastal Harbor Trails

The geotechnical report, wildlife, botanical, and wetland surveys were completed in 2013. Supplemental surveys may be required by regulatory agencies. Preliminary design and engineering work is underway for Coastal North Harbor with a grant from the State Coastal Conservancy for $100,000, matched by $10,000 from the Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation and $10,000 in Park Mitigation Fees. Additional funding will need to be secured to construct this 0.32 mile-long trail.
