Santa Rosa, CA – May 9, 2016 – The second of five community workshops on the Springs Specific Plan will be held on Monday, May 16th, 6:00 PM, at the Altimira Middle School Multi-Purpose Room, in Sonoma. The public is encouraged to attend and provide input into this exciting planning project for the Springs area, which includes the Highway 12 corridor from Agua Caliente Road to Verano Avenue.
Input gathered from community meetings is an essential step in the development of the Springs Specific Plan. The Plan, once developed, will guide future development in the Springs and gradually transform the area into a more vibrant, sustainable, and pedestrian-oriented community, with a focus on active transportation and enhanced transit opportunities.
At this workshop, the public will provide input on preferred areas for new residential, commercial and public uses, and identify locations needing improvement or reutilization. Participants will also be asked to weigh-in on needed circulation improvements and connections.
“This process is designed to reflect the goals of the community in the development of the Springs Area Plan,” said First District Supervisor Susan Gorin, “We look forward to hearing more input from community members on the desired types of development, public spaces, and improvements to better accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists in the Springs.”
Three additional community workshops are planned to be held in the Springs over the next year. Residents may also provide input by contacting County staff. The meetings will be conducted both in English and Spanish.
