    On June 4, 2019 the Board of Supervisors approved the work plan for the County’s Comprehensive Planning efforts for fiscal years 2019-2020 and 2020-2021. Permit Sonoma’s Comprehensive Planning team is responsible for the development and implementation of the General Plan and Area Plans, Local Coastal Plan, Specific Plans, Zoning Code, and other policy documents and initiatives as directed by the Board of Supervisors.

    The Board of Supervisors recently voted to not extend the moratorium on new vacation rental permit applications. Therefore Permit Sonoma can begin accepting Vacation Rental applications again on Monday, February 5, 2018. More Information

    If you are a Vacation Rental owner who has made your home available to fire victims, we thank you for offering a roof to those who no longer have one. If you have been considering making your rental home available to fire victims, we would like to encourage you do so now. Transitioning your vacation rental property to long-term use will not jeopardize your ability to resume operation of your vacation rental in the future. If you are currently or planning to offer your Vacation Rental for long-term use, please fill out the Vacation Rental Housing Recovery Response form.

    Sonoma County will hold an Airport Area Specific Plan Public Workshop on Thursday April 13th, 5:30-7:30 PM, at the Windsor High School Library. Attendees will explore land use, circulation, and public improvements to the Airport Area over the next 20 years.

    The Board of Supervisors adopted code changes for accessory dwelling units (“accessory units”) and junior accessory dwelling units (“junior units”). This action was in response to changes in State law and the housing crisis.

    Vacation Rentals: All property managers must be certified by January 1, 2018 or the Vacation Rental Permit for the property will be expired. If you serve as the property manager or the 24-hour contact for one or more Vacation Rentals within unincorporated Sonoma County, you are required to take this course and pass the test. (Managers of hotels, motels, campgrounds, or hosted rentals do not need to take this certification course.)
