Permit Sonoma Fire Prevention

Curbside Chipper Program

Return to Vegetation Management Service

Thank you for your interest in our Countywide Curbside Chipper Project. Please remember that the purpose of our Curbside Chipper Project is to assist you in creating and maintaining your defensible space around your home, structures and access routes to the property.  Your parcel size must be no larger than five acres unless otherwise approved.

Chipper Project Update February 1, 2019

From February 1 until May 1 the chipper equipment will undergo maintenance.  The program will also undergo evaluation and planning, which will include assisting local government agency partners with completing fire fuels reduction projects.

Applications received during this time will be placed in queue on a first-come, first served basis for chipping services after May 1.  If you would like to be on the waiting list, we ask that you keep us informed of any change in pile status prior to the May start.

Please note:  The purpose of the program is to create defensible space, specifically around the home, structures and access routes to the structures, for properties located in the unincorporated areas of Sonoma County.  Services such as fuel breaks, fuel management and defensible space greater than 100 feet from structures and 15 feet from edges of access roads to those structures fall outside the scope of the program.

If you are interested in submitting an application for chipping services, find out more about the Chipper Program Guidelines.
