Falls Prevention Classes for Adults Ages 60+

Protect Yourself! Improve Balance, Stability and Strength at Free Classes

In response to COVID-19 and the County’s Stay-at-Home order, all upcoming classes are suspended until further notice. We hope to see you in the Fall.

Harmful falls are the #1 reason older adults and seniors end up at the emergency room. Don’t restrict your activities because of worries about falling on uneven ground or stairs -- learn how to protect yourself and stay safely on your feet by attending free Bingocize or A Matter of Balance classes. 

These courses are funded through USDA’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – SNAP or Older Americans Act. Enjoy a friendly game of Bingo combined with simple seated and standing exercises. Bingocize reduces your risk of falling by helping you stay active and increasing your strength, balance and range of motion.

Bingocize is a series of four, one-hour classes.

Learn to view falls and fear of falling as controllable, and set goals to increase activity. Learn to reduce falling risks in your home. Enjoy simple exercises to build strength, flexibility, coordination and balance.

A Matter of Balance is a series of eight, two-hour classes.

    Volunteer as a Bingocize Instructor or Matter of Balance Coach

    Become a certified instructor for Bingocize

    Instructor training is a short, self-paced, online training and one-on-one consultation with Bingocize staff. Volunteer Bingocize instructors are needed throughout the county at host sites. Instructors can also offer suggestions for new class locations.

    Let us know about your interest in becoming a volunteer Bingocize instructor if you are enthusiastic and dependable, are able to perform simple seated and standing exercises and love to combine fitness and fun.

    Become a certified coach for A Matter of Balance

    Contact us about the one-day training if you have good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and dependability, plus the ability to facilitate small group discussion and perform low-intensity exercises while instructing others.
