People with Disabilities Ad Hoc Committee

The Commission on Human Rights People with Disabilities ad hoc committee's purpose is to raise awareness on issues affecting people with disabilities, by partnering with other groups and individuals in the community to increase awareness and search for solutions.

People with disabilities, face many issues some due to the nature of their disability and some are due to a social system that doesn’t guarantee their basic rights. They are one of the most vulnerable and underserved population, facing many issues such as unemployment (which is higher than 70%), housing, community inclusion, justice system that is not prepare to understand how to deal and support people with disabilities, bullying, among others. It is necessary to put in place mechanisms to support, empower and integrate people with disabilities.

The People with Disabilities ad hoc committee's purpose is to raise awareness on issues affecting people with disabilities, by partnering with other groups and individuals in the community to increase awareness and search for solutions.
