Marti EstrinFor over 30 years, Marti Estrin has worked as an educator and advocate for language minority students, both at the K-12 and community college levels. Having recently retired from her position as Noncredit ESL Coordinator at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), she is currently working with homeless populations in Santa Rosa, at Catholic Charities and the Living Room. Additionally, Marti will be teaching English at the SRJC, as an adjunct instructor beginning in the Spring of 2017.

Marti joined the Human Rights Commission in November 2016 because of her strong commitment to immigrant rights, social equity, and her belief in the power of education to empower people of all economic, language and cultural backgrounds to facilitate positive change in society. Marti was also drawn to the Human Rights Commission as a result of her work teaching English to, and collecting stories from, refugees in Guatemala and Northern India, where she became acutely aware of the intensity of human suffering as a consequence of mass human rights violations.
