Community Outreach

We recognize that addressing the homeless emergency requires a community-wide approach. The County is working closely with community based organizations and community members as we take actions to urgently address homelessness. The County’s community outreach includes public meetings, social media updates, a detailed informational website with answers to frequently asked questions, and notifications to neighbors of shared homes. The County will continue to mail updated information to neighbors of shared homes and shelters.

In addition to the outreach to the general public, the County is coordinating outreach, engagement and housing placement for individuals living in the Joe Rodota Trail. This works includes identifying the behavioral health, medical, and social service needs of this population. Read more about the work of this Intensive Care Team.

This meeting lasted from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM with more than 70 in attendance and included stakeholders such as homeless services providers, advocates, individuals with lived experience of homelessness, community stakeholders who possess expertise in the field, and members of the public.
