Pregnancy and Infant Care

Prenatal care is the act of having a healthy lifestyle while you are pregnant. Schedule an appointment with a doctor as soon as you find out you are pregnant. This page will answer questions about:

  • How do I find healthcare coverage?
  • How do I find dental coverage?
  • What is prenatal care?

How Do I Find Health Coverage?

If you do not already have healthcare coverage, you may qualify for Medi-Cal. To find out, visit a the WIC office or a local health clinic for free application assistance. Visit the Redwood Community Health Coalition website to see a list of clinics and other locations offering this service.

If you have not yet been seen for prenatal care, the clinic may be able to issue you a temporary Medi-Cal card for coverage for your first appointment while you wait for your Medi-Cal application to process. Be sure to ask for coverage for your infant as well.

Dental Care for Pregnant Women with Medi-Cal Coverage

Maintaining good oral health during pregnancy is important to the overall health of expectant mothers and their babies. Medi-Cal covers dental care for pregnant women. You can find a local dental provider who accepts Medi-Cal from our  list of providers.
