On August 22, 2018, the County of Sonoma and WCE met for
their eleventh bargaining session. The parties discussed the WCE’s
responses to the County’s proposals (a one-year term extension, 2% lump sum
payment, paid parental leave, a set of comparator agencies for the bargaining
unit’s classifications, County coverage of increases to employee medical
benefits, dental premium holiday, Cesar Chavez holiday, annual floating
holiday, and de-linking unrepresented employees’ medical benefits from the
retirees’ medical benefits, while maintaining current levels of retiree medical
benefits). WCE presented responsive proposals that include a request for
a salary increase for approximately one half of their members, and increased
retiree medical benefits.
The parties are scheduled to bargain again on
September 5, 2018.
