County employees will have the option to load eCash on Clipper cards to ride Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit (SMART) or purchase a SMART Eco-Pass for $155 per month. The Eco-Pass is a highly discounted monthly pass loaded onto a Clipper card that is good for unlimited rides on SMART.
You can purchase the Eco-Pass directly from My Commuter Check using pre-tax payroll deductions. You may use your existing Clipper card or request one with your order through My Commuter Check. Your new Clipper card will be shipped directly via USPS.

What is a SMART Eco-Pass?
The SMART Eco-Pass is a deeply discounted universal pass loaded onto a Clipper card that is good for unlimited rides on SMART. Unlike other Clipper products that can be purchased at ticket vending machines or through Clipper, Eco-Passes must be purchased through an employer or institution.
Eligible County employees will be able to purchase SMART Eco-Passes for $155 per month through their My Commuter Check portal. This is a savings of $45 per month compared to SMART’s 31-Day Pass.
What if I only want to commute on SMART occasionally?
If you don’t think you will use the SMART train regularly enough to justify a monthly pass purchase, you can elect to put eCash on their Clipper card to pay for individual rides.
E-Cash on a Clipper card can be used any time, on any transit system in the Bay Area, and is not limited to the month for which the pre-tax product was purchased.
What is Clipper?
Clipper is an all-in-one transit card accepted on Sonoma County Transit, Santa Rosa City Bus, SMART, Golden Gate Transit, Marin Transit, Petaluma Transit, as well as all other Bay Area transit agencies.
Where can I get a Clipper card?
When you register for a transit products through My Commuter Check, a Clipper card will be shipped directly to you via USPS. There is a one-time $3 fee to set up a new Clipper card account.
If you already have a Clipper card, you may enter your Clipper card account information in the My Commuter Check portal to electronically load your pre-tax purchases to your existing card.
What if my Clipper card is lost or stolen?

- If you are an Eco-Pass holder and have lost your Clipper card, you will need to contact Commuter Benefit Solutions at (888) 235-9223 to have a replacement card sent to you. Please note that it may take up to 7 days to receive a new card.
