    Following the Board of Supervisors August 31, 2021 vote to remarket the Chanate Campus for sale, the online auction sale will open shortly.  Sealed bidding is scheduled to end on November 9, 2021. All of the County’s due diligence materials will be available via the Ten X portal and will ensure all buyers review and sign off on receipt of those materials prior to submitting a bid.  The auction link will be available on the County's Chanate webpage when it is live.

    The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors today voted to remarket the surplus 71-acre county-owned Chanate Campus for sale in an online auction beginning Sept. 7 and ending Nov. 9.

    It has been a busy summer on the Chanate Campus, from the grazing of vegetation-managing goats, to Department of Health Services vaccination activities, to the work on geotechnical trenches and mapping.  We are pleased to share that the additional seismic work the Board of Supervisors approved to help reduce uncertainties in future sale efforts is complete.

    On Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, the Board of Supervisors approved geotechnical studies to help reduce uncertainties in future sale efforts. A contractor has been engaged for trenching studies to locate any active earthquake faults, and work is scheduled to begin as early as Feb. 22, 2021.

    On Sept. 25, 2020, the Board of Supervisors reaffirmed its decision to sell the Chanate Campus property. The Board confirmed the minimum offer requirements, the form of the offers, and described the manner of receiving offers and instructed the County and its agents to negotiate the best and final offers.

    The County of Sonoma’s financing program, Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP), has been approved for an interest rate reduction from 7% to 5.99%.

    EAH, the affordable housing bidder who was in negotiations with the County for the surplus sale of the Chanate property, withdrew from their buyer-side partnership. With no qualified respondent to the surplus Request for Proposals, the County closed the surplus sale process with no deal.

    On September 24th the Board of Supervisors voted to approve $10.8 million toward demolition of the blighted buildings on the Chanate Campus.

    On August 15, 2019, the County received formal notice from CalCHA withdrawing their proposal. The Board of Supervisors item regarding Chanate remains scheduled for August 20, 2019. At the meeting, the Board will consider options including awarding to one of the other bidders, or exploring the feasibility of removing the vacant structures and improving value.

    On Thursday, May 9, 2019 through July 2019 the pedestrian walkway at the intersection Paulin Drive and Ventura avenue on the east side of Ventura will be closed for construction. Pedestrian traffic will be shifted from the northeast corner to the southeast corner, then across Ventura to the west side.

MI-BEST joins the art of construction to the science of energy and moisture management.
