General Services continues to be busy with a wide variety of facilities improvement projects. Most notably these projects include:
County Campus Projects: The Inmate Connector is in the final stages of construction with completion expected in the fall of 2021. This connector will allow the safe transfer of inmates from the existing Main Adult Detention Facility to the future new State Courthouse. Planning for the Behavioral Health Housing Unit continues. The Board of Supervisors has approved the shortlist of Design-Build teams. Submittals to State Corrections and Finance agencies have been completed. General Services is actively working with the State to schedule a Ground Lease meeting for the fall of 2021.
Airport Projects: General Services continues to support the work done by the Transportation and Public Works Department expansion efforts at the Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport, including the New Airport Terminal and the photovoltaic-shaded parking lot expansion.
Resiliency and Recovery Projects: General Services is working on the installation of emergency generators at the Animal Shelter, Santa Rosa Road Yard and both Sonoma and Santa Rosa Veteran’s Halls. Eight more generator projects are underway and three more submitted for FEMA grants including one at the Sheriff’s Administration Building; Fire Early Warning System includes installation of 27 high-definition cameras mounted on 17 strategically-selected towers to monitor for smoke and fire in order to prevent the loss of life, property, and economic damage. Glass Fire Damage Assessment work is being undertaken which includes management of demolition, hazmat abatement, and site clearing & waste disposal on the Los Guilicos campus. Installation of 64 tiny houses for the unsheltered at LG Village located on the Los Guilicos campus included shower, laundry, medical and counseling facilities, (2) dog runs and heated dining (warming) tent in just 2-3 weeks.
