This training session will include the following modules with time for Q&A. The target audience is building department staff, but information is also very valuable for contractors and building industry professionals.
This training is presented by the County of Sonoma Energy and Sustainability Division in partnership with the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) and the Sonoma County Regional Climate Protection Authority (RCPA).
2019 Energy Code Changes - Residential
• Description: This course will provide an overview of the 2019 residential energy code changes.
• Topics Covered: Changes to the residential portions of the 2019 Energy Code.
• Target Audience: All building department staff, and building industry professionals.
Residential New Construction
• Description: This course provides a basic review of residential new construction energy code.
• Topics Covered: Comprehensive residential energy code compliance processes, compliance forms, prescriptive and performance approaches, and HERS features, with a focus on new construction, larger additions.
• Target Audience: Permit technicians, plan checkers, field inspectors, and building industry professionals.
Residential Alterations Compliance
• Description: This course will explain how to process residential alterations projects, which are mostly over-the-counter permits such as HVAC changeouts, window replacements and water heater replacements.
• Topics Covered: CalCERTS HERS registry, what projects are required to be in the registry, how to track CF1R, CF2R and CF3R forms electronically so hard copies do not need to be printed.
• Target Audience: Permit technicians, plan checkers, field inspectors and building industry professionals.
Instructor: Amy Dryden
Amy Dryden is Director of Policy and Technical Innovation at Franklin Energy, where she leads technical standards and program design, codes and standards initiatives, and policy advocacy to support greenhouse gas reductions, climate mitigation and healthier and sustainable homes for all people. Amy has over 20 years of experience in residential construction, consulting, standard development, community and participatory environmental planning. Amy has a Masters in Landscape Architecture/ Environmental Planning and City and Regional Planning and holds several building industry certifications.
