Design Review Committee Meeting

The Design Review Committee (DRC) reviews and approves the design of significant new development projects, such as new commercial development. The Committee considers building and site design, architecture, colors, lighting, signs, landscaping and other design-related issues. The Design Review Committee has three members appointed by the Director of PRMD. There is an architect, a landscape architect and one PRMD staff member. Design Review meetings are open to the public, and certain projects are reviewed at a noticed public hearing. Some decisions of the DRC can be appealed to the Planning Commission.

The Design Review Committee meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month (and as needed).

    Proposal:

    Request for a Design Review with Hearing application for a new camping resort (approved through UPE11-0034), which will be open to the public for overnight stays for up to 80 guests. The proposed project is located on the former home of J's Amusements and Camp Outback. All structures have been demolished and removed. New construction will include three new structures: a snack bar, restroom/shower facilities, and a proposed check-in/store area. Other associated improvements include two new driveway/parking areas, a gravel courtyard, and four pools. The pool area, camp store, and snack bar will be open from 10 am- 6 pm daily. The campground will be open 24 hours/day with a camp office staffed from 9 am- 8 pm. Special events (10 events per calendar year) will conclude by 10 pm. Campground will only operate seasonally, from April 15th to October 31st. The project is located on an 11.55-acre parcel.

    Written Public Comments: Submit letters prior to the hearing by mail addressed to: Permit Sonoma, 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA 95403 and include the project number. Please note, due to the office closure under the Sonoma County Shelter in Place order, Permit Sonoma receives mail once a week leading to longer than usual processing times for mailed in items
