Rohnert Park Man Sentenced to 5 Years in State Prison and Ordered to Register as Sex Offender for Life

Santa Rosa, CA  –  April 29, 2021  –  Defendant Paul Morrow, 60 years old of Rohnert Park, was sentenced today by the Honorable Peter Ottenweller to serve 5 years in state prison following a “no contest” plea earlier in April to one felony count of sexual penetration of an unconscious victim, and one felony count of sexual penetration of a minor under the age of 16.

The charges resulted from an investigation by the Rohnert Park Police Department. In 2015, the first victim, identified in court as “Jane Doe 1,” then 17 years old, reported being sexually assaulted by Morrow while at a sleepover at Morrow’s home in Rohnert Park. Morrow was contacted by police and admitted to the conduct. However, Jane Doe was reluctant to proceed and the investigation was suspended. In 2018, police were contacted by a second victim “Jane Doe 2,” then 14 years old, who reported Morrow sexually assaulted her while she was at a sleepover with Morrow’s daughter in the Morrow home. The night of the assault was the first time Jane Doe 2 had met Morrow. Defendant was subsequently arrested and charged with both incidents, and faced a maximum of only 9 years and 4 months in prison. Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2 were strangers to each other.

As a result of his plea, Morrow was sentenced to 5 years state prison, and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Leslie Butori, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Ken Pistorio, and Victim Advocate Elizabeth GarciaRetired Detective Bret Layn of Rohnert Park Police Department headed the investigation.
