Defendant Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison for Child Molest Convictions

Santa Rosa,CA | October 26, 2018

Defendant Guadalupe Barragan-Zepeda, 52 years-old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced on Thursday October 25, 2018 by the Honorable Judge Robert LaForge to 6 years prison after having pled no contest in September of this year to three felony sexual assault charges.  Specifically, the defendant pled to one felony charge of committing continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 years of age, and two felony counts of sexual battery by restraint.

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “The victims in this case showed incredible courage.  By coming forward to authorities they ensured that not only they would receive some measure of justice, but that other children would be less likely to be abused.”

The case involved two separate victims who were both minors at the time the offenses were committed.  The acts giving rise to the charges of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 were committed between 2007 and 2010.  The acts giving rise to the sexual battery charges occurred in 2015 and 2018.  All of the charges involved the defendant touching his victims in a sexual manner.

As a result of his convictions the defendant will be required to register as a sex offender for life, pursuant to Penal Code section 290.

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Javier Vaca. The Santa Rosa Police Department headed the investigation.
