Crip Gang Members Sentenced to Life in Prison for Murder, Home Invasion Robberies

Defendants Jonathan Jackson 21 years old, David Ealey 25 years old, and Tyrone McRae 27 years old, all from Richmond Virginia, were sentenced today by the Honorable Christopher Honigsberg to serve life sentences in state prison after having pled no contest to charges related to the 2018 home invasion robberies of two Sonoma County homes and the murder of one of the occupants Jose Torres.  

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “This was a sophisticated plan that was hatched out of a prison cell and targeted homes for robbery of marijuana. The violence was carried out by a crew that came from the east coast to steal by whatever force was necessary, even killing innocent people in their homes. My office expended significant resources to hold these individuals accountable and we are satisfied that these three defendants will remain behind bars for decades to come.”   

Jackson, Ealey and McRae were east coast Crip gang members who flew to Sonoma County in order to commit home invasion robberies. On February 8, 2018, while in Sonoma County, they entered a home on Fulton Road armed with firearms. The residents of that home were tied up, assaulted with a firearm, and a resident was shot in the arm. Shortly after leaving, the three drove to a second home on Melcoln Lane. They then entered that home with firearms. While there they tied up the family, assaulted them with a firearm and shot and killed Jose Torres. The suspects fled the scene and were arrested in Vallejo CA on the same day. Jackson and Ealey were sentenced to fifty years to life for the murder of Mr. Torres, and robberies of the six other victims. McRae was sentenced to 45 years to life for the same charges.     

There is currently one other defendant, Mussie Kibrom Himed, who is awaiting trial for the same charges.   

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Tania Partida and Robert Waner, assisted by District Attorney Investigator Ken Pistorio. Detective Ryan Mitchel of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office headed the investigation.
