Convicted Felony Sentenced to 17 Years, 8 Months in Prison for Assault with Firearm and Robbery

Santa Rosa, CA  –  January 5, 2022  –  Defendant Raymundo Hernandez-Soto Jr, 34 years old of Santa Rosa, was sentenced earlier today to serve 17 years, 8 months in state prison after pleading “no contest” in October of last year to charges of committing an assault with a semi-automatic firearm, second degree robbery, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

District Attorney Ravitch stated, “This defendant continues to demonstrate that he is a danger to our community, and we will continue to seek lengthy sentences for those using firearms to commit violent acts.”

The robbery occurred on November 19, 2019 at the Bennet Valley Golf Course parking lot when the defendant and a female co-defendant, posing as a prostitute, robbed a man with a firearm. At the time of the robbery, the defendant was on post-release community supervision after serving a prison sentence for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. On May 30, 2020 the defendant shot a separate victim with a semi-automatic handgun in the area of Apple Valley Lane in Santa Rosa after the defendant posted bail on the robbery case. 

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Robert M. Rasp, assisted by District Attorney Investigators Dave Kahl and Matt ReganThe Santa Rosa Police Department headed the investigation.
