Santa Rosa, CA – February 7, 2013 – SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. – February 7, 2013 - The County of Sonoma Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is asking the public to help it select three recipients of the Women’s History Month Awards for 2013. The award is given to women who have made a positive difference in women’s quality of life in Sonoma County and the Commission will select three winners from the public’s nominations. To nominate a candidate, please send a letter to email@example.com, describing why you think they should be considered for the award and please include the candidate’s contact information, as well. The deadline for nominations is March 1st.
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the awards will be presented at our March 24, 2013 luncheon and fundraiser. This year’s theme is ‘Women Inspiring Innovation through Imagination: Celebrating Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics’ however nominations are taken from all areas of interest to women. The luncheon will be held on March 24th from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Sally Tomatoes Restaurant in the Sonoma Mountain Village, 1100 Valley House Dr., Rohnert Park. The Commission on the Status of Women is a public advisory body comprised of 15 members appointed by the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors. The purpose of the Commission is to promote equal rights and opportunities that enhance the quality of life for all women and girls and to address issues of discrimination and prejudice that negatively affect women in Sonoma County.
