Santa Rosa, CA – March 11, 2012 – The County of Sonoma Commission on the Status of Women has named three recipients for the 2012 “Women Honoring Women” Awards for service to women of Sonoma County.
The awards will be presented at the Second Annual Women’s History Luncheon and Scholarship Fundraiser on Sunday, March 11, 2012, 11:30 AM, at Sally Tomatoes Restaurant, 1100 Valley House Drive, Rohnert Park.
Tickets are $40 and are tax-deductible donations to the Santa Rosa Junior College Foundation.
Guest speaker, Michelle Jolly, Chair, History Department, Sonoma State University, will speak about her oral history project of women in Sonoma County. The award recipients are all longtime volunteers concerned with the welfare of women and girls in Sonoma County: Elia Solar, health care advocate, Mary West, President-Coordinator of the Sonoma County Chapter of the National Organization of Women (NOW), and Lydia Zipp, women’s cancer educator and advocate.
