Santa Rosa, CA – April 16, 2021 – Deva Marie Proto, Sonoma County Clerk-Recorder-Assessor-Registrar of Voters (ROV), reminds residents of the Town of Windsor and Northern Sonoma County Fire Protection District Special Tax Zone 1 that the regular deadline to register to vote in the upcoming May 4, 2021, Special Election is April 19 at 11:59 p.m. PT. This election is being conducted entirely by mail and only applies to voters residing in one of the aforementioned jurisdictions.
To be eligible to register to vote, one must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old on or before Election Day, and not in prison for the conviction of a felony. Any voter who has recently moved or changed their name should re-register. Residents who miss the registration deadline still have the option to “conditionally” register and vote in person. Please contact the Registrar of Voters Office for further details about this process.
Those who are eligible to vote can register online at registertovote.ca.gov. Postage-paid paper registration forms are also available at many public and government offices including city halls, post offices and the ROV Office. Online registration forms must be submitted electronically by 11:59 p.m. PT on April 19. Completed registration forms returned by mail must be postmarked on or before April 19. Forms returned in person to the ROV Office must be deposited into the office’s 24/7 drive-thru drop box by April 19.

The ROV Office is open regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PT on weekdays) but has extended hours (7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. PT) on May 4 (Election Day). Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, anyone visiting the office should plan on undergoing a temperature reading, wearing a mask, and practicing social distancing.
