Board of Supervisors to hold additional redistricting hearings before final map selection

Santa Rosa,CA | November 19, 2021

Under the direction of the Board of Supervisors, Sonoma County will hold two additional public meetings related to the county redistricting process, prior to a final public hearing on Dec. 7. The Board chose map NDC 51162-D as its preferred draft map during its Nov. 16 public hearing. The map is still in draft form, and modifications are expected to be made

The first meeting will be a town hall webinar on Monday, Nov. 22 at 5 p.m. County staff will seek input on areas surrounding Rohnert Park that residents consider to be part of the broader Rohnert Park community and should be included in the same supervisorial district.

The second meeting will be a special Board of Supervisors workshop to be held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 29, which also will be open to the public. Modifications to the preferred draft map will be discussed and considered. A new Sonoma County supervisorial district map must be adopted by Dec. 15.

To take part in the Monday, Nov. 22 virtual town hall meeting, community members are encouraged to register in advance on Zoom using the following link https://sonomacounty.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_w8Buy3IiRpq8M-biAX97gw. This town hall also will be broadcast live on the Sonoma County Facebook page in English and with live Spanish interpretation on the Sonoma County YouTube channel.

The hearing materials, draft maps, virtual meeting links, past meeting recordings and additional redistricting resources can be accessed through the County of Sonoma’s redistricting webpage, sonomacounty.ca.gov/redistricting. Community members also are encouraged to submit comments by emailing them to redistricting2021@sonoma-county.org.
