  • State of the County 75 square
    In January the Sonoma County Economic Development Board released its annual “State of the County Report”, a yearly synopsis of trends both economic and social with implications for our quality of life here in Sonoma County. Positive indicators included a decreasing unemployment rate that is now nearing pre-recession levels, median earnings levels going up almost $2,000, increased medical coverage of the uninsured (by 1.3%), increasing rates of education,…
  • Among the most exciting news to report is the success of the Sonoma County Winegrowers (SCW) in exceeding their first year goals in their “100% Sustainable” initiative. SCW President Karissa Kruse reported at the end of January that 33% of the county’s vineyard acreage is now “certified sustainable”, this exceeds their goal of certifying 25% of wineries each year until full certification of the county in 2019.
