  • Day of Caring is a yearly event where County of Sonoma and City of Santa Rosa employees team up to work on a variety of service projects, create team building and community spirit by extending public services further into our communities. 

  • County of Sonoma, Department Employee Recognition Program allows for recognition of employees, units, and divisions.

  • Employee Service Awards program serves to honor employees for their length of service to the County of Sonoma.

  • Jefferson Awards is a national recognition system that highlights public service in America. Sonoma County has adopted it to recognize individuals, nonprofits, board, commissions, or advisory bodies that best demonstrate “Excellence in Community Leadership and Civic Engagement.”

  • Public Service Recognition Week has been celebrated the first week of May since 1985.

    Throughout the country, mayors, governors, agency leaders, communities and public service organizations participate in PSRW by issuing proclamations; hosting award ceremonies and special tribute events; and delivering messages about the value of public service.

  • Sonoma County employees participate in this one-to-one literacy tutoring program where employees tutor 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade students at local participating schools through a partnership with United Way of the Wine Country.

  • Take Your Child to Work Day is a yearly event where County employees can take their child, nephew/niece, grandchild, or mentee and show them what they do and where they work.

  • Volunteering is one of the greatest forms of civic engagement, and in Sonoma County volunteers enhance and extend the County of Sonoma’s ability to provide services to the community. Established in 1984, the County of Sonoma Volunteer Program places hundreds of people each year throughout County departments. Countless volunteers invest energy, skills and talent to make Sonoma County a better place to live.
