    The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office is opening the county areas of Bennett Valley and Kenwood areas to limited, restricted re-entry of burned out areas. Only residents and property owners will be allowed entry into these areas.

    Emergency response agencies from throughout the nation and Australia continue to fight numerous fires throughout Sonoma County. There are 22 confirmed fatalities in Sonoma County.

    Members of the public affected by the fires can learn about resources available from the County of Sonoma Recovery web site or the City of Santa Rosa Recovery website.

    The County of Sonoma and the City of Santa Rosa are opening a Local Assistance Center (LAC) in partnership with FEMA and the California Office of Emergency Services (CalEOS) tomorrow morning, Saturday, October 14th. The center, at the Press Democrat building in downtown Santa Rosa at 427 Mendocino Ave. between Ross and 5th Streets, will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily for at least two weeks.

CAL FIRE sigue publicando la actividad de los incendios aproximadamente al as 7:00 am y a las 7:00 pm diariamente, en el fire.ca.gov.

CAL FIRE continues to release fire activity and containment information at approximately 7:00am and 7:00pm daily at fire.ca.gov. There are 19 confirmed fatalities from the emergency.

    Emergency response agencies throughout Sonoma County continue to fight numerous fires in the County. The County’s Emergency Operations Center remains active and is staffed around the clock. As of 6:46pm, CalFire released information that 27,000 acres have burned, 16,000 structures have been threatened, and 571 structures have been destroyed (550 residential, 21 commercial). There are 11 confirmed fatalities from the emergency.

    Federal, state, county, and city elected officials, CAL FIRE personnel, the California Office of Emergency Services, Sonoma County schools, the Red Cross, and others assisting in the fire response and recovery will gather tonight at 6:30 pm for a public Community Meeting at Santa Rosa High School to provide status updates on the ongoing and active Sonoma County fires.

    Multiple public agencies are closed for tomorrow, including the Sonoma County Courts, all public schools and libraries. The Emergency Operations Center has received over 100 phone calls to the missing person hotline. 7 fire related fatalities were confirmed by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office. Mandatory evacuations are still in effect for parts of Sonoma County. 24 evacuation centers are open to the public. Evacuation orders remain in effect and many areas remain unsafe. Do not enter a road that is closed or attempt to return to your home before evacuation orders are issued.

    Evacuations have been ordered in a number of areas. It is critical that residents comply with law enforcement when they are told to evacuate. Information on evacuations will be shared on the Sonoma County Facebook page and the Sheriff’s Office Nixle as it becomes available.

    Emergency response agencies throughout Sonoma County are actively fighting numerous fires throughout the County. The County has activated the Emergency Operations Center, and is opening a shelter at the Finley Community Center, located at 2060 West College Ave in Santa Rosa, and will also accept small animals. The Sonoma County Fairgrounds, located at 1350 Bennett Valley Road, is available to accept large animals. Access the Fairgrounds via Gate 7 on Aston Ave.

    Effective Tuesday, January 17, 2017, Sonoma County’s Permit and Resource Management Department (PRMD) has opened a temporary permit center in Guerneville to help property owners obtain permits for non-structural storm damage repairs, such as drywall and electrical repairs, resulting from recent flooding of the Russian River.  Today, 1/24/2017, is the last day for the Temporary Mobile Permit Center, and that all operations will be at Permit Sonoma’s (PRMD) main office at 2550 Ventura Avenue, Santa Rosa, CA.

    While another winter storm is expected to hit Sonoma County starting Wednesday, January 18, 2017 the California Nevada River Forecast Center does not forecast flooding of the Russian River as a result.

    The California Nevada River Forecast Center forecasts the Russian River will remain at flood stage (above 32 feet) until 6 p.m. this evening. The County’s Emergency Operations Center continues to remain active to provide updated information and emergency services to Sonoma County residents.

    Beginning Friday, January 13, 2017, Sonoma County Transportation and Public Works Department will provide disposal sites for residents and businesses affected by Russian River flooding. Six sites will be available to dispose of debris and trash, between the hours of 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

    Due to the arrival of a second winter storm, the Russian River is anticipated to again reach flood stage of 32.3 feet at 5:00 p.m. today. The California Nevada River Forecast Center forecasts the Russian River will reach its peak at 6:00 p.m. tomorrow, cresting at 38.4 feet.
