Valley Fire Update- 9/16/2015 - 7:00 PM

Road closures and advisory evacuations remain in effect despite the aid of rain

Santa Rosa, CA  –  September 16, 2015  –  Rains this afternoon offered a welcome assist to fire crews battling the Valley Fire, but this stint of rain is not expected to fully extinguish the fire. Road closures and advisory evacuation orders remain in place for Sonoma County.

Sonoma County Road Closures

Road closures remain in effect for the following areas:

  • Geysers Road at Red Winery Road
  • Geysers Road at River Road east of Cloverdale
  • Pine Flat Road at Red Winery Road
  • Ida Clayton Road at Hwy 128

For your safety, please avoid these areas. Individuals with residences or businesses in the area are allowed access these roads but are encouraged to use caution when entering. Emergency responders urge people wishing to assist with the Valley Fire to stay away from the fire area and to check for road closures before attempting to help (go to http://calfire.ca.gov/communications/ActiveFiresList.php for a current list of Valley Fire closures).

Advisory Evacuations

Advisory evacuations remain in effect as ordered by CAL FIRE for the following locations:

  • Pine Flat Road, addresses 5000 and above
  • Geysers Road out of Healdsburg, addresses 6000 and above
  • Geysers Road out of Geyserville, addresses 9400 and above

Advisory evacuations notify residents that existing conditions dictate that a Mandatory Evacuation Order MAY be given in the near future, but that the threat to lives is not yet imminent. Due to the potential for rapidly changing conditions to develop into a serious threat, residents who are included in an advisory evacuation order should prepare to evacuate, and those with special evacuation needs should leave as soon as possible.

Residents in the surrounding area are urged to stay vigilant, and prepare for possible evacuation. It is recommended that all residents prioritize their personal safety, and do not wait for an evacuation notification if they feel that their safety is at risk.
