What & Why?
The boat launch facilities at Westside Park are used by thousands of residents and visitors every year for access to sport fishing and other water related activities in Bodega Bay. This facility was in need of renovations to improve accessibility for persons with disabilities and to replace aging structures and supporting amenities.
The improvements included renovations to the restroom, parking lot, paths of travel, picnic sites, fish cleaning station, boat wash out, replacement of the piles, boarding floats, and concrete launch ramp panels, new lighting, and a new gangway and kayak launch ramp to enhance accessibility.
The improvements were substantially completed by Bellingham Marine Industries, Inc. (BMI) in November 2016, and the facility was opened for recreational crab season. BMI will be returning to the site this Fall of 2017 to reset some of the boat ramp panels for a tighter fit.
