    On July 11, 2017, the construction contract was awarded to G.D. Nielson Construction, Inc. in the amount of $468,832. The contract includes paving 0.42 miles of trail and a new wooden pedestrian and bicycle bridge.

    Work is scheduled to occur between Monday, September 25, 2017 and Friday, October 27, 2017 to improve low tide launch access and comply with regulatory permit conditions.  The facility will be reopened in time for recreational crab season.

    Regional Parks hosted a community meeting on July 12 to present and receive feedback on the draft Master Plan update for Maxwell Farms Regional Park.  The plan is available here and public comments are welcomed by August 4 to planner Scott Wilkinson (see contact info at right).

    The public is invited to learn more and share ideas at a workshop scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. April 27 at the Bennett Valley Guild Hall, 4145 Grange Road, Santa Rosa, 95404. A second workshop will be scheduled this summer.

    Westside Regional Park's boating amenities have been recently renovated to include a third launch lane as well as the county's first wheelchair-accessible kayak launch and new docks, new gangway, new fish-cleaning station, and expanded parking for trailers.

    Regional Parks is updating the master plan for Maxwell Farms Regional Park to guide future improvements. As part of the process, planners are hosting a Feb. 17 public workshop as a follow-up to the initial planning session held last year. The workshop is an opportunity for Sonoma Valley residents to review and discuss preliminary concepts and help shape the renovation of this popular park.

    Congressman Jared Huffman (D-San Rafael) today announced a $387,097 Land and Water Conservation Fund grant for Sonoma County Regional Parks to construct a section of the Coastal Prairie Trail in Bodega Bay, California, part of the proposed 1,200-mile California Coastal Trail from Mexico to Oregon.
