The engineering plans were completed to a 50% level. Based on these preliminary plans, an Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration was prepared pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Sections 15070 – 15073.
The Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration finds that the proposed project would result in “potentially significant” or “potentially significant unless mitigated” environmental impacts related to air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, and recreation. Although the proposed project could have a significant effect on the environment, implementation of feasible mitigation measures would either avoid or reduce to a level of insignificance the identified environmental impacts.
On January 9, 2018, the Board of Supervisors approved the preliminary plans and adopted the Mitigated Negative Declaration for the project. Regional Parks is currently pursuing grant funding opportunities to proceed with the next steps for the project, including completing the engineering plans, permitting and construction.
