Doran Park - Cove Restroom & Accessibility Improvements

Doran Park Cove restroom building

What & Why?

The restroom and shower building at Doran Park between the Cove and Gull Campgrounds was a prefabricated structure that was installed 20 years ago and had deteriorated significantly over the last few years. With funds from the transient occupancy tax (bed tax) and allocated tobacco settlement funding, this project was designed to improve accessibility to the new restroom and shower building, and the boardwalk day use.

The Cove Restroom Project was completed in May of 2016.

The improvements included a new restroom and shower building, a paved pathway from the boardwalk to the restroom, a new drinking fountain, replacement of the outdoor shower, bench replacements, accessible picnic tables, and accessible parking improvements at the boardwalk day use area.
