Permit Sonoma is currently open for 20 hours per week for live phone assistance as well as limited video and in-person appointments. The Permit Center is closed to the public until further notice. Virtual services remain available during regular business hours.

In light of the COVID-19 health orders, Permit Sonoma and the Resiliency Permit Center have moved from physical to virtual operation, using e-submittals, telephony, and other technologies. Most employees are working from home. Staff communications with the public will occur by e-mail and telephone.

This transition represents a significant change in Permit Sonoma’s business. We are doing our best to balance the safety and health of our customers and employees with the need of our economy as we recover from multiple disasters. With any big and sudden change, it will not be perfect. We will make mistakes and, with your help, get them corrected as quickly as possible. This disaster also affords us the opportunity to conduct our business differently, so please be open new business practices emanating from our organization.

For the duration of the COVID-19 Shelter in Place declaration, Permit Sonoma will continue to provide many inspection services via remote video technology. Our goal is to keep your projects moving while protecting everyone from the spread of COVID-19.

Please follow the instructions to get started with your first video inspection. If you have scheduled an inspection by telephone or via Permits Online, our inspection team will call the morning of the date you scheduled your inspection to answer any questions and schedule a more precise time for your video inspection to begin.

Request for N-95 Mask Donations

During the current COVID-19 emergency local healthcare facilities and workers are in dire need of N-95 masks. Permit Sonoma is encouraging businesses to donate masks they have available. Staff will even pick them up!! Details in video:
